Orange Business Enhances SafetyCase with Eutelsat's OneWeb Satellite Services
Orange Business has bolstered its SafetyCase emergency telecommunications solution by integrating Eutelsat's OneWeb satellite services. This move, according to Nassima Auvray, Defense & Security Director at Orange Business, enhances SafetyCase's ability to rapidly recreate reliable networks for emergency professionals.
Previously, the satellite services for SafetyCase were provided by an unspecified supplier. The new integration brings low latency and robustness from a European low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, courtesy of Eutelsat's OneWeb.
SafetyCase, available in Mobile Unit and Crisis Center formats, offers swift deployment. The Mobile Unit can be operational in seconds, while the Crisis Center can be set up in under 30 minutes, providing up to 20 hours of autonomy. These units create WiFi connectivity bubbles by intelligently hybridizing available networks.
The solution has proven its worth in real emergencies. It was deployed during the floods in Valencia, Spain, and Cyclone Chido in Mayotte in December 2024. The partnership with Eutelsat further strengthens the sovereign nature of SafetyCase. These rugged, energy-autonomous devices are designed and manufactured in France to restore voice, data, and video connectivity in crisis situations.
Orange Business's integration of Eutelsat's OneWeb into SafetyCase enhances the solution's speed, reliability, and sovereignty. This move is expected to further improve emergency response capabilities, as demonstrated by SafetyCase's successful deployments in past crises.
