OpenAI Academy's Inaugural Year: A Global Success

The OpenAI Academy, a global initiative promoting AI integration in education, has concluded its inaugural year with remarkable success. The ETIH Innovation Awards 2026, celebrating excellence in education technology, was a highlight, attracting a vast audience and showcasing innovative learning solutions.

The Academy hosted 55 events across the US, India, and Mexico, drawing 2,500 in-person attendees and a staggering 90,000 virtual attendees. This global reach is a testament to the Academy's commitment to making AI resources accessible worldwide.

OpenAI Academy has partnered with organizations like Common Sense Media and AI Impact Hub to create tailored resources. Additionally, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), along with 50 UN sister agencies and the Government of Switzerland, has contributed to developing resources for non-profits and educational institutions through the AI for Good initiative.

Entries for the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 are open to organizations globally. Winners will be announced on 14 January 2026 and featured in a print magazine at BETT 2026. The Academy's success has led to the launch of OpenAI Certifications and the OpenAI Jobs Platform, further expanding its impact. In its first year, the Academy has reached over 2 million people with AI resources and training.
