Oman Television Upgrades Broadcast Audio System with Lawo AoIP Technology for Improved Infrastructure

In a significant stride towards modernization, Oman TV's Central Theatre is undergoing a transformation, integrating Lawo's IP-based technology to cater to live performances and support five national channels. This project, a collaboration between Oman TV and systems integrator Pixel Solutions, is set to place Oman TV at the forefront of broadcast innovation in the region.

The theatre's audio infrastructure is powered by Lawo's IP-based solutions, with the central control hub being a Lawo mc256 MkIII audio production console equipped with 32 faders and an A__UHD Core engine. Two A__stage64 stage boxes ensure seamless audio connectivity throughout the venue, adhering to ST2110 standards.

The modular design of Lawo's system allows for future expansions at Oman TV, making it a scalable solution that can grow with the evolving needs of the broadcast industry. The system manages over 1,000 DSP channels and allows engineers to oversee live event audio while controlling signals for broadcast distribution.

The HOME platform's intuitive interface streamlines workflows, reducing setup times and operator training needs. This platform centralizes device control within the hybrid production environment, which includes a massive 11m x 5m LED video wall, Prolights fixtures, Bose Professional loudspeakers, and Studio Technologies commentary and translation booths.

The upgrade aims to address the traditional lack of broadcast-grade redundancy in auditoriums, establishing the Central Theatre as an additional broadcast studio. Anas Alkurdi, presumably a key figure in the project, has stated that it lays a solid foundation for future advancements in Oman's broadcast industry.

Oman TV's broadcasting benefits significantly from Lawo's IP-based technology, providing uninterrupted service during live productions. The technology's flexibility and reliability are evident, as it seamlessly integrates with third-party systems such as Bose and Studio Technologies.

IP-based technology is widely used in media and broadcasting to enhance infrastructure efficiency and flexibility. Benefits include scalability, interoperability, efficient resource allocation, cost efficiency, and enhanced collaboration. In the context of Oman TV's Central Theatre and broader infrastructure, Lawo's IP-based technology could offer similar advantages by providing a flexible, scalable, and interoperable platform that supports efficient resource allocation and reduces costs.

Operators have praised the system's performance, and discussions are ongoing to extend Lawo's technology across Oman TV's broader infrastructure. This project demonstrates the convergence of local expertise and global technology to achieve remarkable outcomes in the broadcast industry.

The transformation of Oman TV's Central Theatre incorporates Lawo's IP-based technology, powering its audio infrastructure and supporting live performances as well as five national channels. As the theatre's audio infrastructure evolves with modular solutions like the Lawo mc256 MkIII console, it presents a scalable solution for future expansions within the broadcast industry.
