Playing NYT's Connections: A Daily Word Game
NYT's latest social media sensation, Connections, is a word game that's all the rage. Created by associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, this classic is playable on both web browsers and mobile devices. The objective? To group four words that share an intricate relationship. Much like Wordle, each new set of words gets trickier as the day progresses.
Connections pits sixteen words against you, dividing them into four categories. Companies, books, countries – you name it! Although it may seem that multiple combinations fit together, there's only one correct answer waiting to be discovered.
Get four words right in a set, and those words disappear from the board. Make a wrong guess, and it counts as a strike. You're allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends. Unlike its counterparts, Connections allows you to shuffle the board and rearrange the words to make finding connections easier. Each group also comes color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, then green, blue, and finally purple for the most challenging categories. Just like Wordle, take a screenshot of your victory and toot your own horn on social media!
Need a push in the right direction? Here's a hint for today's categories:
- Yellow: On the hunt
- Green: Indulge at a buffet
- Blue: Popular Gen Z memes
- Purple: They share the initials S.C.
