Nissan Leaf Returns with More Power, Range, and Tech
Nissan's Leaf, the popular electric vehicle, returns with improved performance and technology. The standard version boasts 177bhp and 255lb ft of torque, accelerating from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds. The long-range model ups the ante with 218bhp and 262lb ft of torque, shaving 0.6 seconds off the acceleration time.
Both Leaf versions share a top speed of 100mph. The electric drivetrain, featuring a synchronous motor and intelligent battery management, ensures efficient performance. The standard version manages 235 miles on a single charge, while the long-range model extends this to 335 miles.
The Leaf's handling is impressive, thanks to accurate steering and 'trace control' that aids grip and prevents understeer. Damping control is commendable at speed, and the urban ride is comfortable. The brakes offer a trustworthy pedal feel, complemented by the ProPilot ADAS system and regen paddles for varied driving modes.
The ProPilot system diligently follows lines and the car ahead. It can be linked to navigation for smooth navigation through junctions and roundabouts. Preferred lane departure and limit-bonger settings are easily accessible.
The Nissan Leaf's enhanced performance and advanced technology make it a compelling electric vehicle choice. With improved power, range, and handling, it continues to set the bar high for electric cars. Despite the slight range reduction at higher speeds, the Leaf remains a practical and efficient daily driver.
