Nintendo's Upcoming Switch Model Unveiled: In-depth Examination of Nvidia Hardware
Unveiling the Mysteries: A Deep Dive into Nintendo Switch 2
The eagerly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is hitting the market, and it didn't take long for tinkerers to get their hands on one. YouTube channel ProModding has dived into the new handheld powerhouse, shedding light on the sleek Nvidia chip powering the console and examining its basic circuitry under intense scrutiny.
The teardown began with an assortment of screws strategically placed at the console's bottom and behind the kickstand. Additional screws were found beneath the colorful side covers where Joy-Con controllers attach. Following the removal of these screws and clips, the back cover easily lifted off.
The process continued with the shedding of metal shielding and the removal of the antennae. After disconnecting the battery and unfastening the cooler, the motherboard was soon exposed. With some persistent prying and removal of additional shielding, the new Nvidia chip was revealed, bearing a name similar to leaked information circulating since 2024.
Peering DeeperProModding provided a magnified view of each integrated circuit on the board to those interested in delving deeper into the console's inner workings. As for the ease of this teardown, while it ain't a walk in the park, it certainly doesn't seem as daunting as you'd expect, though modifying the console at home might land you in hot water.
Nintendo of America updated its End User License Agreement to include provisions against "bypassing, modifying, decrypting, defeating, tampering with, or circumventing any... functions" of its services, and doing so may render your system "permanently unusable." So, leaving the do-it-yourself repairs to the professionals is advisable.
Nintendo will likely present a detailed repair manual for its technicians soon. In the meantime, spectators can enjoy observant modders like ProModding showcase their work on YouTube as we count down the hours to the official launch, scheduled for June 5.
