Nightpeak Energy Launches 150MW/300MWh Battery Storage Project in Texas
Nightpeak Energy has inaugurated its 150MW/300MWh Bocanova Power battery energy storage system (BESS) in Brazoria County, Texas, US, since August 2025. The project, located around 24 miles south of downtown Houston, operates under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unnamed investment-grade power purchaser.
The Bocanova Power project is Nightpeak Energy's second operational facility, adding to its existing 240MW of battery storage and natural gas generation facilities. Nord/LB and MUFG Bank served as co-lead arrangers for the debt financing, which included a tax equity bridge loan, a construction-to-term loan, and letters of credit.
Energy Spectrum Capital has backed Nightpeak Energy with up to US$200 million in equity funding from its Energy Spectrum Partners Fund VIII. The project utilises Tesla's Megapack 2 XL battery storage system, providing a robust and efficient energy storage solution.
The commercially operational Bocanova Power project demonstrates Nightpeak Energy's commitment to advancing energy storage solutions. With institutional financial involvement and state-of-the-art technology, the project is poised to contribute significantly to Texas's energy landscape.
