Nightpeak Energy Launches 150 MW Texas Battery Storage Project

Nightpeak Energy has launched a significant power project in Texas. The 150 MW battery storage facility, Bocanova Power, began commercial operation in August 2025, supplying flexible power to the Houston region. This project is a testament to Nightpeak's speed and capability in overcoming complex challenges.

Located in Brazoria County, Texas, Bocanova Power is a 2-hour duration battery storage project. It operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with an investment-grade power purchaser. The facility uses Tesla's Megapack 2 XL battery storage systems, supplied by Bocanova Power.

The project has received praise from Patrick Klein, Managing Director of Project Finance Americas at MUFG. He commended the project for delivering affordable power and stimulating job creation and economic growth in the region. The banks involved in financing the project include MUFG, Siemens Financial Services, and SMBC. Nord/LB and MUFG Bank served as co-lead arrangers on the debt financing.

Nightpeak Energy, which owns and operates 240 MW of battery storage and natural gas generation facilities, has more projects in the pipeline. The company, led by Co-founder and CEO/CDO Paris Hays, aims to expand its footprint in Texas and the Western U.S. The Northern Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce, under President and CEO Cary Perrin, welcomed Nightpeak Energy and the Bocanova Power facility to the county.

Bocanova Power, a 150 MW battery storage facility, has begun commercial operation in Texas. The project demonstrates Nightpeak Energy's speed and commitment to delivering affordable power and driving economic growth. With the support of financial institutions and local communities, Nightpeak continues to expand its energy portfolio.
