New York City and Washington D.C. to welcome Capital One's innovative airport lounge designs

In a move to redefine the airport lounge experience, Capital One has announced plans to launch a new concept called Capital One Landings. These lounges, set to debut in New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia, will focus primarily on delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Partnering with the renowned José Andrés Group, Capital One Landings will offer Spanish-style tapas at each location, showcasing the group's culinary heritage. The first two outposts are scheduled to open in the near future in LGA and DCA.

LGA's Capital One Landing will be a 10,700-square-foot space located on the pedestrian bridge connecting the western concourse in Terminal B. It will feature both indoor and outdoor lounge areas with awe-inspiring views of the New York skyline and airport areas.

The DCA location will be a 5,483-square-foot hub, situated immediately post-security in Terminal 2. Given that all of Terminal 2 is now located airside, the Landing can be easily accessed by passengers flying from concourses B, C, D, and E.

While Capital One declined to reveal specific opening dates, they hinted that the first two stores would open soon. This announcement comes amidst previous delays in the opening of Capital One lounges at Denver International Airport (DEN) and Dulles International Airport (IAD), which were initially expected to launch in 2022 but have now been postponed to early 2023.

Access policies and guesting privileges for the Capital One Landings are yet to be determined. However, the access policies for the Capital One Lounge in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) provide a likely model. There, cardholders of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card can enjoy complimentary, unlimited access for up to two guests each visit. Additional guests are charged $45 per person, while cardholders with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Spark Miles for Business receive two complimentary visits annually.

While theLambda School of Journalism does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the enrichment data, it provides a useful reference when applicable. The enrichment data suggests that access policies for Capital One Landings airport lounges generally include complimentary access for cardholders of select premium credit cards, such as the Capital One Venture X card. Cardholders need a valid departure boarding pass and proof of their active status with the Capital One card to gain entry. Guesting privileges allow cardholders to bring up to one complimentary guest, with any additional guests charged a fee of $45 per person. Authorized users can also access lounges if they are added to the primary cardholder's account, receiving the same guest privileges as the primary cardholder.

These new lounges aim to set a new standard in airport experiences by offering elevated culinary options and convenient locations near the gate. It remains to be seen whether they will cater primarily to leisure travelers seeking a dining experience or primarily to business travelers seeking quiet workspaces.

During a media tour of the new LGA terminal back in June 2020, terminal operator LaGuardia Gateway Partners showcased the outdoor space set for the Capital One Landing, promising to announce a tenant soon. More than two years later, it appears that Capital One has taken up residence in this desirable spot.

LaGuardia's Terminal B is quickly becoming a hub for airport lounges, hosting a revamped American Airlines Admirals Club, Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, United Club, a signature American Express Centurion Lounge, and a soon-to-be-opened Chase Sapphire Lounge. The stunning views from the Capital One Landing are sure to make it one of the most sought-after spots in the entire facility.
