New Electric Coupe-SUV from BMW Set for Release Within the Year?
The automotive world is abuzz with anticipation for BMW's upcoming electric vehicle, the iX4. Set to roll off the assembly line at the company's new Debrecen plant in November 2026, the iX4 is poised to join the ranks of BMW's Neue Klasse electric line, following the iX3 which begins series production at the same plant at the end of next month.
The iX4, with an internal codename "NA7", has been in the works for approximately three years. This potential electric coupe-SUV is expected to command a higher price than its equivalent iX3 counterpart. One of the key features that set the iX4 apart is its more aerodynamic body, potentially increasing its maximum WLTP range, surpassing the iX3 50 xDrive's impressive 805 kilometers (500 miles).
While the iX4 boasts a more aerodynamic design, it will be slightly less practical due to the sloping roofline reducing rear headroom and cargo space. However, an M Sport Package is expected to be standard across the iX4 range, ensuring a sporty and dynamic driving experience.
In addition to the standard iX4, an M Performance version, referred to as the M Lite, is scheduled to enter production in March 2027. The iX4 is also expected to mirror the iX3 in terms of available flavours, offering 50 xDrive, 40 xDrive, and 40 sDrive options.
It's worth noting that the conventionally shaped iX3 may be built in Mexico in the future. Meanwhile, the second Neue Klasse model to debut will be the i3 "NA0", aimed at sedan loyalists.
Finally, BMW has hinted at the production of a full-fledged X4 M, but no specific production date has been announced. This addition would complete the lineup, offering a range of electric vehicles to suit various preferences.
As the iX4 gears up for its production debut, it promises to be an exciting addition to BMW's electric vehicle portfolio, offering a blend of style, performance, and efficiency. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to its release.
