The administrative regulation on § 48 Abs. 2 of the Ordnungsbehördengesetz (OBG) was changed by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of North Rhine-Westphalia effective from July 15, 2013. The new regulation emphasizes the importance of the announcement and publication of communal measuring points for speed monitoring. While the exact times of the checks are not required to be published, particular importance is attached to the announcement of controls and the publication of measuring points.
Scientific studies show that transparency, publication, and more speed tests bring about positive behavioral changes. The city of Bergisch Gladbach publishes the planned measuring points of the speed tests carried out by the municipality on a weekly basis on its official website.
It's worth noting that the police authority carries out its own speed tests, and information on these can be found on the police's website. Mobile speed tests are planned in Bergisch Gladbach from September 17 to 27, 2025.
