Minecraft Education Launches 'Reed Smart: AI Detective' to Fight Misinformation
Minecraft Education, in collaboration with Microsoft, has launched 'Reed Smart: AI Detective', an educational game aimed at 8-18-year-olds. Unveiled on September 16, 2025, the game teaches young players how to navigate AI misinformation and develop crucial information literacy skills.
The interactive adventure game, inspired by film noir detective stories, follows detective Reed Smart as he solves cases. Each case, such as 'The Deepest Fake' and 'An Ode to Deception', educates players about AI detection tools and the importance of human judgment.
Players learn to identify fake AI-generated videos using multiple sources in 'The Deepest Fake'. In 'An Ode to Deception', they understand the significance of human judgment in AI detection. 'Dine & Deceive' demonstrates how AI can create false information, stressing the importance of verification.
The game uses vibrant colors to symbolize the player's growth in information literacy. It teaches skills like lateral reading, fact-checking, and critical ignoring to help players discern fake information. 'Reed Smart: AI Detective' is available to download on the Minecraft: Education Library and Minecraft Marketplace.
With 'Reed Smart: AI Detective', Minecraft Education and Microsoft aim to equip young players with the tools to avoid AI tricks and scams. The game's interactive cases and engaging narrative make learning about AI misinformation an enjoyable adventure.
