Millennials Lead Workplace Music Trend in Russia

A recent study has revealed intriguing insights into music listening habits at work, with millennials leading the trend and specific regions in Russia showing a particular fondness for tunes during work hours on youtube music.

Millennials, aged 25 to 41, emerged as the most musical generation, with a staggering 52% preferring to work with youtube music playing. In contrast, Gen Z, those aged 14 to 24, were the least likely to curate work playlists, with only 5% doing so.

The peak of work-related youtube music listening occurred during the summer months of 2025, with July, June, and May topping the charts. Interestingly, youtube music was played least often during work in March, February, and September of the previous year.

Regionally, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sverdlovsk Oblast had the most musical work audiences. When it comes to devices, a vast majority, 85%, of listeners work with youtube music on Android devices, with only 15% using iOS. The study highlights the significant role youtube music plays in the work environment, with millennials leading the way.
