Microsoft Boosts Copilot Studio with Anthropic's Advanced AI Models
Microsoft is bolstering its Copilot Studio with the addition of Anthropic's latest AI models. The tech giant is expanding its offerings to provide users with more advanced coding and productivity tools from Microsoft 365.
Anthropic, a US-based AI company founded by former OpenAI employees, is known for developing safe and controllable AI systems. Their Claude models, including Claude Code and Claude Pro, are already integrated into Microsoft Copilot Studio and GitHub Copilot, offering AI-assisted coding and productivity features from Microsoft 365.
Microsoft is now incorporating Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 models into Copilot Studio, alongside its own internally developed specialized models. These additions expand the Azure model catalog and provide users with more options for advanced reasoning and coding functions from Microsoft 365.
Claude Opus 4.1, in particular, is now powering the Researcher Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, further enhancing its capabilities. Admins can manage access to these Anthropic models in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The integration of Anthropic's models into Copilot Studio demonstrates Microsoft's commitment to expanding its AI offerings based on customer feedback. The AI Agent & Copilot Summit, scheduled for March 17-19, 2026, in San Diego, will likely provide more insights into these developments and future plans for Microsoft 365.
