Microsoft & Adobe Issue Critical Security Updates on Patch Tuesday
Microsoft and Adobe have issued critical security updates to address numerous vulnerabilities in their software. The updates, released on Patch Tuesday in October 2015, include fixes for remote code execution, local privilege escalation, and other significant issues.
Adobe's updates, APSB15-24 and APSB15-25, address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader and Flash, respectively. These updates resolve over 50 security flaws that could allow attackers to execute code in the context of the user.
Microsoft's October bulletins cover a wide range of products. MS15-109 fixes a vulnerability in the Windows shell that could lead to remote code execution through email or web browsing. Meanwhile, MS15-110 addresses six issues in Office, five of which result in remote code execution when tricked into opening an Excel sheet. Another bulletin, MS15-111, tackles local privilege escalation vulnerabilities affecting all Windows versions from Vista to Windows 10. Internet Explorer's critical bulletin, MS15-106, includes 14 fixes, seven of which could lead to remote code execution, affecting all supported versions of IE on Windows platforms.
Oracle is set to release its Critical Patch Update on October 20, 2015. Microsoft's October Patch Tuesday included six bulletins covering important products. Users are advised to apply these updates promptly to protect against potential security threats.
