In a strategic move to expand its footprint across Europe, Marqeta, Inc. has announced the acquisition of TransactPay, a BIN Sponsorship provider licensed as an E-Money Institution in the UK and the European Economic Area.
The combined entities aim to deliver innovative solutions that cater to the growing demand for digital payments, while avoiding the added complexity associated with engaging multiple partners.

This integration offers customers a unified, streamlined solution for managing card programs, simplifying operations and enabling smoother expansion into European markets.
According to Marcin Glogowski, Marqeta's SVP Managing Director, Europe and UK CEO, the combined capabilities of TransactPay and Marqeta help address critical payment needs in the evolving global landscape. Existing customers of both companies can now expand more easily into European markets.
The acquisition furthers this growth and demonstrates Marqeta's commitment to the European and UK markets, as part of its overall global strategy. The relationships maintained by both companies will support card program scale throughout the region.
TransactPay's CEO, Aaron Carpenter, expressed pride in continuing as a trusted partner to Marqeta, combining their capabilities to help customers accelerate growth and bring new digital payments offerings to market more efficiently.
Key impacts of the acquisition include enhanced compliance and regulatory coverage, simplified card program management, accelerated customer growth, and the continuation of strategic banking and regulatory relationships.
With the combined capabilities, customers can take advantage of card program management features in the UK and EU. Both Marqeta and TransactPay customers will continue to have dedicated customer and production support.
