DLA Piper Bolsters Venture Capital Practice with Kevin Milgram

Kevin Milgram, a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in defense and national security, has joined DLA Piper's Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice as a partner. Based in the Reston, Virginia office, Milgram specializes in the formation, financing, and M&A of emerging companies, with a focus on defense technology, national security, IT, cybersecurity, AI, and government software [1][2][5].

Milgram's impressive background in national security and defense is expected to be a significant benefit to the firm's clients. Antonio Calabrese, Managing Partner of DLA Piper's Northern Virginia (Reston) office, acknowledged Milgram's expertise, stating, "Kevin's deep understanding of the defense and national security sectors, coupled with his strong relationships with leading venture capital and private equity firms, make him an invaluable addition to our team" [1].

Jeffrey Lehrer, Chair of the firm's Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice, expressed his excitement about Milgram joining the firm, saying, "We are thrilled to have Kevin on board. His industry knowledge and connections will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to serve clients in high-growth and technology-driven sectors" [1].

DLA Piper's Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice, where Milgram will be working, includes over 200 lawyers globally and has completed more than 1,800 financings worth over $50 billion in the past three years [1][2]. This active platform in high-growth and technology-driven sectors is indicative of the broad reach and activity of the practice.

In addition to his work with emerging companies, Milgram also advises veteran-led businesses, leveraging his background as a former U.S. Air Force officer [1][2][5]. These relationships could potentially benefit the firm's clients that do business with venture capital and private equity firms.

Milgram earned his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law and previously worked at Cooley [1][2][4]. With his addition to the team, DLA Piper continues to strengthen its position as a leading law firm in the venture capital and private equity sectors.
