Kazakhstan Establishes Technical Cooperative Center in Shanghai to Enhance Technological Partnership with China
In a significant move towards strengthening tech cooperation between Central Eurasia and China, the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub was officially opened on July 28 in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, often referred to as Asia's Silicon Valley.
The hub, initiated by the Kazakh company Growth Vision Pro, serves as a platform connecting startups, innovative companies, and R&D centers from Central Eurasia with China’s innovation ecosystem. Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev made the statement about the hub, highlighting its potential to foster cross-border technology transfer, facilitate the entry and scaling of Central Eurasian startups into the Chinese and global markets, and promote joint R&D projects, technology transfer, and venture capital investments.
Located in the heart of China's tech hub, the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub provides modern offices, coworking spaces, and serviced apartments for businesses. It offers comprehensive support, including legal and tax advisory services, aimed at helping companies establish links with Chinese investors, manufacturing partners, and accelerators.
In partnership with Chinese accelerator XNode, the hub runs tailored educational and acceleration programs like the China Market Entry Bootcamp and China Launchpad program. These programs provide mentoring, workshops, and networking opportunities tailored to help companies explore and expand in the Chinese market.
The benefits of the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub are far-reaching. It provides Central Eurasian startups access to the world’s largest consumer market, enabling them to attract investment and forge partnerships. For Chinese firms, it offers a "soft landing" in Eurasia, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa via the Middle Corridor. The hub also increases awareness of Central Eurasia’s technological potential in China and supports joint innovation initiatives, facilitating export growth for the region’s tech enterprises.
The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub is positioned as a next-generation tech diplomacy platform designed to integrate the technological potential of Central Eurasian countries with China’s dynamic innovation landscape, boosting regional tech cooperation and global market access. The ministry, Astana Hub, and IT Park Uzbekistan have supported the development of the hub, further underscoring its importance in bridging the tech gap between the two regions.
