Jeep Revamps Luxury SUV Lineup for 2026: Grand Wagoneer Gets Hybrid Power, Wagoneer Discontinued

Jeep is revamping its luxury SUV lineup for 2026. The Grand Wagoneer will receive significant powertrain and styling updates, while the standard Wagoneer will be discontinued. The Grand Wagoneer will also undergo a trim structure revision and may introduce a news engine option.

The 2026 Grand Wagoneer will switch to a range-extended hybrid powertrain, featuring a 3.6-liter V6, two electric motors, and a 92 kWh battery pack. This setup will produce an impressive 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque. Despite this change, Jeep is still considering offering a Hemi-powered option.

The exterior will receive a fresh look with revised LED headlights, a new bumper design, and a full-width rear LED light bar. The Grand Wagoneer will continue to use the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six Hurricane engine as the standard powertrain.

Jeep will discontinue the Wagoneer name for the 2026 model year. Dealers confirm that customers often interchangeably choose between the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, making the discontinuation feasible. The Grand Wagoneer will absorb cheaper variants, ensuring the Wagoneer spirit lives on. The trim structure will also be revised, replacing Series I, II, and III with names like Limited and Summit.

The 2026 Grand Wagoneer promises enhanced performance and an updated look, while the discontinuation of the Wagoneer nameplate signals a shift in Jeep's luxury SUV strategy. The trim structure revision and potential new engine option further demonstrate Jeep's commitment to evolving its lineup.
