Blazing Through Europe: Introducing the Electrified Jeep Compass
Jeep Compass undergoes electrification: Transformed into an electric magnetic apparatus
Get ready for a revolution in the world of compact SUVs! The latest iteration of Jeep's crowd-favorite model, the Compass, is making its electric debut. After racking up over 2.5 million sales since its introduction in 2006, Jeep is turning heads once more with the third generation of its best-selling compact SUV.
This electric remodel is perfectly tailored for Europe, where it first hits the streets, later to be rolled out in other markets. The success of the C-segment in Europe, accounting for a staggering 25% of the continent's automotive market, guarantees this newcomer a warm welcome.
Based on Stellantis' acclaimed STLA platform, the Compass can accommodate a range of powertrain options, with Jeep offering three: a 145 PS mild hybrid, a 195 PS plug-in hybrid, and for the first time ever, battery electric vehicle (BEV) models in three editions.
Battery-Powered Bliss with Multiple Choices
The Compass BEV lineup consists of three tiers, the base model boasting a front-mounted motor with 213 PS, providing a WLTP range of up to 500 kilometers. The middle option features the same 170 kW power output as the base model, maintaining front-wheel drive. The top-tier electric version has an upgraded all-wheel drive setup, with an additional rear motor and a total power output of up to 276 kW, ensuring a sterling WLTP range of up to 650 kilometers.
The battery may be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes at a DC fast-charging rate of up to 160 kW, with an onboard charger supporting AC charging at 22 kW speeds.
Extended Range through Intelligent Design
Improved aerodynamics, a lesser drag coefficient (cW value), and the use of active louvers in the radiator grille, strategically placed air channels around the wheels, sharp rear edges, and a completely flat underbody are some of the design elements aimed at securing increased efficiency and thus a longer driving range for the new Compass. At 4.55 meters in length, the vehicle remains loyal to the principles of the compact SUV segment while offering more room than its predecessor, with 5.5 cm more legroom in the back and a boot volume increased by 45 liters to 550 liters.
Design that Stands Out, Feels In Tune with the Brand
The seven-slotted grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, and rugged, modular skid plates on bumpers and sills are just a few of the distinctive elements that set the Compass apart. An elevated front radar sensor ensures undamaged navigation, even on the most challenging terrains and during parking maneuvers. All-wheel-drive variations come equipped with additional protective elements and even a rear tow hook.
Modern Infotainment and Sharper Handling
The cockpit of the new Compass introduces a fresh, sleek infotainment system, featuring a 10.25-inch driver display and a 16-inch touchscreen at the center. Software updates received over the air guarantee users constant access to the latest features without the need for in-person visits to dealerships. Pre-installed driver assistance systems permit semi-automated driving at level 2. A list of additional options includes a head-up display, matrix LED headlights, a digital vehicle key for smartphones, and an automatic lane change assistant.
Jeep's recalibrated suspension ensures a harmonious balance between comfort and smooth handling. Ground clearance ranges from up to 20 cm in front-wheel-drive models to enhanced approach angles of 27° at the front and 31° at the rear, a departure angle of 16°, and a maximum wading depth of 47 cm in all-wheel-drive models. The "Selec-Terrain" mode and a hill descent control system contribute to these capabilities, supplemented by underbody protection.
The "First Edition" of the Compass is available in an e-hybrid configuration with 145 horsepower or as a BEV model with front-wheel drive. Standard features are plentiful and include 20-inch wheels, matrix LED headlights, a 16-inch navigation system, level 2 assistance systems, 360-degree parking sensors, and a sensor-controlled tailgate. Additional luxury options like ventilated massage seats and a panoramic sunroof are available.
Vehicles are slated for delivery in the final quarter of 2025. Pricing information has not yet been revealed, with the previous model entering the market at around 40,000 euros. Fasten your seat belts, folks - it's going to be an exciting ride!
The Manufacture of electric vehicles is a significant part of the evolution of the Compass, with Jeep offering battery electric vehicle (BEV) models for the first time ever. The technology behind these new electric vehicles includes efficient design elements such as improved aerodynamics, active louvers in the radiator grille, and a completely flat underbody for increased driving range.
