Italy-UAE Trade Surges, Driven by Tech and Sustainability

Italy and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are witnessing remarkable growth in their economic partnership. Italian exports to the UAE have surged by 19% in the first half of 2025, reaching €4.5 billion. By the end of the year, exports are projected to surpass €9 billion. This growth is driven by industrial technology, with 49 Italian companies set to showcase their solutions in renewable energy, water treatment, waste management, and sustainability at WETEX 2025 in Dubai.

Industrial technology accounts for a significant 26% of total Italian exports to the UAE. This sector has grown by over 23% in 2025, demonstrating its key role in the bilateral trade. Italian exports in renewable energy to the UAE alone exceeded €250 million in 2024, with an annual growth rate of over 30%. The UAE serves as a strategic hub for Italian companies, providing access to the Gulf, wider Middle East, and Asia.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) will organize a 600 square meter Italian Pavilion at WETEX 2025, where these 49 companies will present their innovative solutions. This event underscores the importance of sustainability and advanced technology in the Italy-UAE partnership. Non-oil trade between the two countries has already reached around €6 billion in the first half of 2025, reflecting the breadth and depth of their economic cooperation.

With over 600 Italian companies now operating in the UAE, the number continues to grow. As Italy and the UAE further strengthen their economic ties, sustainability and advanced technology are expected to remain central to their partnership. The upcoming WETEX event, with its Italian Pavilion, is a testament to this shared focus on innovation and a sustainable future.
