Dekra Opens New Electric Vehicle Battery Test Center in Klettwitz
Dekra, a leading global provider of testing and certification services, has inaugurated a new battery test center for electric vehicles in Klettwitz, Brandenburg. The center, located at the Lausitzring, is expected to strengthen the value chains of electric mobility in the region.
The battery test center, which was attended by Brandenburg's Minister President Dietmar Woidke, is primarily designed to cater to companies from the automotive and supplier industry. These companies can have their battery modules tested under extreme conditions to ensure safety and performance.
Dekra has invested a double-digit million amount in the new location. The center offers a comprehensive range of services for the automotive and supplier industry, including drop and fire tests.
The new battery test center is strategically significant for Dekra, according to Guido Kutschera, Executive Vice President for Dekra in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. He stated that it is a strategic building block for testing and inspection services for the mobility of the future.
Minister President Woidke emphasized the importance of secure and reliable battery technologies for the future industry. He also highlighted that the new center is designed to strengthen the innovation region Lausitz and the value chains of electric mobility in Brandenburg.
The new battery test center is not just another facility in the world, but is located at the Lausitzring. Dekra currently employs around 290 people at the growing location, and approximately 40 jobs are expected to be created at the new center.
The new battery test center indicates that the battery life of electric cars is surprisingly durable, according to the Automotive Trade Study. Additionally, tests conducted at the center are expected to promote used electric car purchases, according to the GW-TRENDS Survey.
The center's inauguration marks another location where customers can find such a comprehensive range of services at one location and with short distances. Dekra's battery test center is designed for speed tests of electric car batteries, ensuring the reliability and longevity of electric vehicles.
