Investigative figure in the cryptocurrency realm, known as ZachXBT.
In the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrency and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), one Twitter user has gained notoriety for their relentless pursuit of justice – ZachXBT.
Starting their pro-bono Web3 detective career in May 2021, ZachXBT has made a significant impact, exposing numerous NFT projects and individuals involved in scams. One of their earliest high-profile targets was Logan Paul, the YouTube sensation, who was called out for promoting "pump and dump" NFT projects, or alleged scams, in May 2022.
However, ZachXBT's investigations didn't stop at Logan Paul. They have also unmasked several Venture Capitals (VCs) and NFT influencers, including MoonRock Capital, DarkPool Ventures, BlueZilla, BitBoy, and Tai Lopez. BitBoy, a crypto advisor, has been accused of making a fortune by promoting many NFT project scams, receiving between $2,500 - $40,000 per advertisement.
ZachXBT's thorough chain analysis experience has been instrumental in uncovering evidence of seven NFT projects or token scams that ran away with the profits, all promoted by BitBoy. This includes the controversial Billionaire Dogs Club NFT project, which launched with a 0.2 ETH price per piece and marketed a luxury lifestyle, wealth, cars, and massive giveaways.
The cryptocurrency and NFT communities have rallied behind ZachXBT, with donors such as Coinbase, Uniswap, Binance, Bybit, and OKX providing support. Notable figures in the Web3 industry, including Beeple, Tron's CEO Justin Sun, and Binance's CEO Cangpeng Zhao, have also voiced their support.
However, not everyone has been pleased with ZachXBT's investigations. Machi Big Brother, a Taiwan-based entrepreneur and Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT whale, sued ZachXBT for their accusations on June 16th, 2023. The lawsuit paperwork posted by ZachXBT on Twitter revealed that ZachXBT's last name is Zachary.
Despite the legal challenges, ZachXBT has continued their work, exposing scams and rug pulls in the NFT space. Their Twitter account, which boasts over 422,000 followers, has become a beacon of transparency in an industry often marred by deceit.
As ZachXBT faces the legal costs of the lawsuit, which are expected to exceed $1 million, they have started accepting donations from the community. The future of this anonymous crypto sleuth remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – ZachXBT's relentless pursuit of justice in the NFT world continues to make waves.
