Lynk & Co, the Chinese car manufacturer, has introduced two more affordable variants of its popular Z20 electric vehicle lineup. The new models, named 430km Rear-Wheel Drive Plus and 430km Rear-Wheel Drive Pro, aim to make electric vehicles more accessible to price-sensitive consumers.

The key features and specifications of the new variants include:

- Motor Power: The motor power has been reduced from 250 kW (335 hp) to 175 kW (235 hp), which is still respectable for its class. - Range: The range has been decreased from 530 km to approximately 430 km (267 miles) due to a smaller battery pack. - Wheel Size: The wheel size has been downgraded from 19-inch to 18-inch wheels. - Audio System: The premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon system is now optional. - Color Options: A new "Fiji Green" color option has been added. - Pricing: The limited-time pricing is RMB 109,900 (approximately $15,200 USD) for the Rear-Wheel Drive Plus model and RMB 118,900 (approximately $16,500 USD) for the Rear-Wheel Drive Pro model.

The new variants retain Lynk & Co’s “The Next Day” design language, featuring hidden rain gutters, frameless doors, and frameless mirrors. Inside, the new variants maintain nearly identical interior design, featuring a 15.4-inch central display, 13.8-inch HUD, and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.

The vehicles still utilize the SEA architecture with MacPherson front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension. The Z20 features 2000MPa hot-formed steel anti-collision beams, seven standard airbags, and an eight-layer battery protection system. Brembo ventilated disc brakes and Bosch One-box brake controllers are used in the new Z20 variants.

The range of the new variants has been decreased to 430km. Despite the price reductions, Lynk & Co claims the new Z20 variants maintain strong performance and handling characteristics. The new models also come with new features such as remote parking capabilities, enhanced security monitoring, visual lane guidance, and popular apps like Bilibili and Kugou Music.

The flexible "Dynamic Island" feature, which can transform into personalised spaces like pet compartments or coffee stations, remains a key selling point in the new variants. Lynk & Co has also announced that the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P lidar edition with Geely's G-Pilot will launch in September.

Since launching in December last year, Lynk & Co has delivered approximately 27,000 Z20 vehicles. The Z20 achieves a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, with the body composed of 81.62% high-strength steel. The vehicle dimensions remain unchanged at 4460/1845/1573mm (l/w/h) with a 2755mm wheelbase and 0.25 drag coefficient.

The new variants offer an attractive balance between price and features, making them a compelling option for consumers looking for an affordable electric vehicle with a strong performance and safety record.

  1. The new Lynk & Co Z20 electric vehicles, with their reduced motor power, smaller battery pack, and 18-inch wheels, represent an entry point into electric vehicle ownership for price-sensitive consumers in the finance sector.
  2. Positioned within the automotive industry's growing electric vehicle market, Lynk & Co has implemented technology advancements in the new Z20 variants, such as remote parking capabilities, enhanced security monitoring, and popular smartphone apps, making them competitive against other industry players.
