New iCAR V27 Mid-to-Large Size Off-Road SUV Unveiled in Dubai
The iCAR brand has unveiled its latest offering, the V27, a mid-to-large size off-road SUV. The grand reveal took place at an event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The V27 is iCAR's flagship SUV and is planned for release in the domestic market by the end of 2025. It boasts a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that operates solely as a generator. The powertrain will be available in two configurations: a single rear electric motor (rear-wheel drive) and a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. The dual-motor version delivers a combined system output of approximately 335 kW (449 hp or 455 PS) and can travel up to 200 km on pure electric power according to the CLTC standard.
The V27 retains a blocky, rugged off-road silhouette, similar to its smaller sibling, the V23. Notable exterior features include square headlights with circular running lights, a multi-slat grille, vertical taillights, a side-hinged tailgate, and a decorative rear “backpack” in place of a traditional spare wheel carrier. The roofline is primarily flat, complemented by a split panoramic sunroof.
The V27 will launch internationally under the name "iCaur" due to trademark issues and represents Chery's flagship in the sub-brand. It is positioned above the smaller Jeep Wrangler-sized iCar 03 and V23 models. Pricing estimates are around 200,000 to 250,000 yuan (approximately $28,000–$35,000 USD), making it a competitively priced large electrified SUV with off-road capabilities.
The four-wheel-drive model of the iCAR V27 produces a combined maximum output of around 335 kW (approximately 449 horsepower). The front fascia features a two-tone grille with bold horizontal slats, oval-shaped LED headlamps, and a sturdy front bumper. The front lower bumper suggests a relatively large approach angle, indicating off-road capability.
The V27 measures nearly 5 meters in length, comparable to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender 110. The estimated price range for the V27 in China is between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (approximately 28,000 to 35,000 USD).
