Infobip's Guide to Sending Unicode SMS Globally

Infobip, a global leader in SMS services, has outlined best practices for sending Unicode messages. With over 1,000,000 SMS sent daily, they ensure global reach and readability.

When using binary 'Send SMS' methods, Unicode messages should be converted to hexadecimal and inserted in the 'hex' parameter, with 'dataCoding' set to 8 (UTF-8). For textual methods, keep Unicode text in the 'text' parameter.

Infobip's SMS API offers features like SMS Transliteration and SMS language to overcome character limitations and optimize costs. However, sending messages in Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, or other specific alphabets without Unicode encoding results in unreadable messages. Unicode messages are limited to 70 characters if they contain non-GSM characters.

Infobip's guidelines ensure global SMS readability and efficiency. By following these practices, businesses can reach over 1/3 of the world's population via 200+ direct mobile network operator connections.
