Cyber Woes: Pakistan Cyber Force Hacks Defense Websites
Indian military data potentially compromised as Pakistani hackers allegedly gain unauthorized access
Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a cyber offensive has been launched by a Pakistan-based group dubbed the Pakistan Cyber Force. The group has allegedly hacked several Indian defense websites and claimed ownership of sensitive data, including personal information and login credentials of defense personnel.
The Chilling Details
The attack on Monday has resulted in the defacement of the official website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited. The group posted the Pakistan flag and an image of the Al Khalid tank on the site. Furthermore, the Pakistan Cyber Force reportedly gained access to more than 10 GB data of 1,600 users on the website of Manohar Parrikar Institute.
In a chilling display, the group had reportedly posted names, ostensibly belonging to Indian defense personnel, with the message, "Hacked. Your security is an illusion. MES data owned."
India's Response
In response to the attack, the website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited has been taken offline for a thorough audit to evaluate the extent of the damage and ensure its integrity. Cybersecurity experts and agencies are actively monitoring digital spaces for any additional attacks, especially those potentially connected to Pakistan-tied threat actors.
Broader Worries
Alarmingly, the attacks extend beyond the defense sector. There have been several reports of critical infrastructure, government sites, and even corporate entities like the Unique Identification Authority of India and Bharat Earth Movers Limited being hacked. Indian surveillances cameras have not been spared either. These developments suggest an intensifying cyberwarfare between India and Pakistan as both sides engage in digital attacks to disrupt operations and assert dominance.

- The cyber offensive between India and Pakistan has extended beyond the defense sector, with reports of critical infrastructure, government sites, and even corporate entities like the Unique Identification Authority of India and Bharat Earth Movers Limited being hacked.
- As cybersecurity experts and agencies monitor digital spaces for additional attacks, concerns about the general-news and crime-and-justice implications of these cyberwarfare tactics are growing, particularly as Indian surveillances cameras have not been spared either.
- In light of these digital attacks, finance and technology sectors may also be at risk, as both sides attempt to assert dominance and disrupt operations, potentially impacting the market's stability.
