In Singapore, Apple remains the leading employer, placing first in the region's best employers list. Asia Pacific Breweries follows closely in second place.
In the ever-evolving world of work, it's crucial to stay ahead of the curve. This year, Singapore's Best Employers 2025 list sheds light on the organizations leading the charge, setting new standards, and redefining the employment landscape.
Apple maintained its spot as Singapore's top employer, with Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (Heineken Asia Pacific), BMW Group Asia, The Lego Group, and GSK rounding out the top five. The ranking, compiled by our website and Statista, recognizes the 250 best companies among those with at least 200 employees in Singapore.
The survey, conducted between October and November 2024, received around 14,000 responses from approximately 2,000+ organizations across 27 sectors. Interestingly, the government services sector boasted the most employs on the top 250 list, according to Statista analyst Wu Ruoh-Yiang. Ministries, statutory boards, and other government entities topped the list, with the Singapore Civil Defence Force leading the charge at 81st place overall.
The Allure of Government Services
Government services are often associated with long-term job security, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits, all of which contribute to their high rankings. But why are they particularly appealing to new work entrants who value meaningful roles?
In an uncertain world, both employers and employees seek stability and policies that align with the changing environment and employee needs. Government roles have become increasingly competitive, thanks to initiatives like the Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests. Effective since December 2024, these guidelines allow both office and non-office staff to formally submit requests for flexible work arrangements, attracting top talent to government roles.
A Purpose-Driven Workforce
Aside from stability and support, jobs in the government sector offer another significant advantage—purpose. Government roles align seamlessly with nationwide initiatives and contribute to improving the lives of Singaporeans, making them highly appealing to those seeking meaningful employment.
Swechha Mohapatra, an Institute for Human Resource Professionals certified senior professional, notes that rising rankings in the government services sector can be attributed to this purpose-driven work. Government roles become even more appealing as they allow new work entrants to contribute to national initiatives and make a real impact.
Top Employer Spotlight: BMW Group Asia
New entrant BMW Group Asia claimed the number three spot on the list, with managing director Lars Nielsen emphasizing the company's focus on supporting employees' ambitions and fostering an environment that encourages growth and exploration.
"If you are going to spend a majority of your time during the week at work, it's important that it's interesting, and even fun, at times," he added. "In today's world, salary and benefits aren't enough to retain talent that is looking for a career, and not just a job."
Gopinath Uthirapathi, a BMW Group Asia employee, praised the company's commitment to professional development, stating, "What matters the most to me is the opportunity to do more and make an impact. The company and its leadership always have one eye on the company and another eye on its people."
So, whether you're drawn to the stability, purpose, or the fun and interesting nature of the work, consider joining Singapore's best employers in 2025 and take the first step towards a fulfilling career!
