ICE Newark Arrests 9 Chilean SATG Members in NJ
ICE Newark, collaborating with FBI and task force agents, has arrested nine Chilean nationals linked to a South American Theft Group (SATG) in New Jersey. The arrests, made in Jersey City and Princeton, involved individual criminals with extensive criminal histories and visa overstays.
The arrested individuals had prior arrests for various theft-related offenses, including petit larceny, grand theft, and fraudulent credit card use, across multiple states. One was an active SATG member previously arrested for larceny in Florida.
Such crimes, which significantly impact communities and businesses, have gained notable attention in the USA since the early 2020s, escalating during Joe Biden's presidency. SATGs are transnational criminal organizations known for conducting sophisticated thefts. The arrested individuals' crimes violated the terms of their lawful entry, making them grounds for deportation and barring future entry into the U.S.
ICE Newark, committed to stopping transient criminal aliens, worked with FBI Newark's Criminal Enterprise agents and Joint Organized Crime Task Force agents to make these arrests. The arrested individuals, including one with an outstanding warrant for burglary in Pennsylvania, will face justice for their crimes and potential deportation.
