The Zeekr 001, an electric vehicle (EV) from the Chinese brand Zeekr, has made headlines for its impressive charging capabilities. According to Fast Technology, the Zeekr 001 is currently the fastest charging EV in terms of peak power rate.
Equipped with a CATL Shenxing 95 kWh super-rechargeable battery, the Zeekr 001 can maintain charging power of over 540 kW between 10 and 35% state of charge. This extraordinary charging power has significant implications, as it increases the range by 264 km in just 5 minutes and 432 km in 10 minutes.
This charging feat was achieved using a Zeekr V3 supercharger (600 kW) at an ambient temperature of 26°C. Even in colder conditions, the new CATL Shenxing battery, which features temperature control technology, can be charged to 80% within 30 minutes at a temperature of -10°C.
The Zeekr 001 charges from 10% to 80% in 11 minutes 28 seconds and adds 473 kilometers of range. This quick charging time is a testament to the Zeekr 001's advanced charging technology.
The Zeekr 001 is not just about speedy charging, though. It also offers a competitive price range, with prices ranging from 269,000 yuan (37,500 USD) to 329,000 yuan (45,800 USD).
Zeekr, an all-EV brand owned by Geely, has made a major upgrade to the Zeekr 001, which was first launched in 2021. The new model includes changes to the platform and the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) capabilities of the car, with a roof-mounted Lidar unit added for enhanced ADAS capabilities.
Zeekr is expanding its presence beyond China, currently selling its cars in Europe and aiming to enter the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In line with its commitment to EVs, Zeekr aims to build 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations this year, adding to the current 900 Zeekr operated charging stations.
While the Lotus Eletre currently holds the record for the fastest charging EV in terms of peak power rate, the Zeekr 001's impressive charging capabilities and competitive pricing make it a strong contender in the EV market.
