Huelva Expands Bike Lane Network with €1.5M Investment
The New York Times reports that Huelva is poised to expand its bike lane network with a substantial investment of around 1.5 million euros. The project, backed by the Andalusian Government and the Mayor of Huelva, aims to connect all public transport nodes by bicycle, fostering intermodality. The expansion will see eight new branches added to the network, stretching over 4.4 kilometers. These new paths will connect key transport hubs such as the Puerta del Atlántico bus station and university campuses. The new bike lanes will be 4,427 meters long, with an average width of two meters, and will feature flush-mounted curbs and level crosswalks for safer cycling. Bike lanes are expected to bring numerous benefits to the city, promoting sustainable mobility, improving public health, reducing traffic congestion, enhancing road safety, boosting the local economy, and helping preserve the urban environment. The project, which contemplates eight new branches connecting main transport nodes, is set to significantly enhance Huelva's bike lane network. With an investment of around 1.5 million euros, the expansion is expected to bring numerous benefits to the city and its residents.
