Huawei Introduces AI Learning Program in Collaboration with Egyptian Universities, Impacting Around 25,000 Students

In an exciting move to prepare students for the digital era, Huawei, in partnership with UNESCO, has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiative for Egyptian universities. The aim is to equip youth with the skills needed to lead in a world where technology is at the forefront.

The Huawei ICT Academy is at the heart of this endeavour, with a mission to cultivate a generation ready to lead in the digital age. As part of this initiative, an AI course has been developed, consisting of seven dynamic sessions presented in a clear, animated format. This fully online, free course is available in both English and Arabic, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Huawei stands alongside passionate instructors to empower students and nurture future innovators through the Huawei ICT Academy. This new AI initiative reflects a shared vision between Huawei and UNESCO to empower educators, upskill youth, and foster inclusive, innovative learning ecosystems.

While specific details about the "Huawei AI Program" in partnership with Egyptian universities are yet to be announced, Huawei's global involvement in AI-related initiatives is noteworthy. The company has been at the forefront of AI advancements, offering solutions such as the AI Data Lake Solution, open-sourcing its Pangu AI models, developing HarmonyOS, an AI-powered operating system, and introducing the AsyncFlow framework to improve AI model training efficiency.

If the AI program were to be implemented in Egyptian universities, it would likely involve research collaborations, training and education, and infrastructure development, as is typical in such partnerships.

The new AI initiative has already been launched, giving over 25,000 students access to world-class AI learning on the Huawei Talent platform. Three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with Al-Azhar University, the Egyptian-Russian University, and 6th of October University, marking the start of this exciting collaboration.

Eng. Asmaa Serag, Director of Huawei Academies Egypt, emphasises the importance of creating accessible, high-impact programs that equip youth with the knowledge and confidence to lead in a digital-first world. UNESCO shares this vision, believing that digital transformation in education is about people, and their partnership with Huawei reflects a shared commitment to empower educators, upskill youth, and foster inclusive, innovative learning ecosystems.

The AI course is open to everyone, regardless of age, background, or profession, and can be accessed anytime, anywhere with a simple, free account. It breaks down the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence in an engaging, easy-to-follow way, requiring no prior technical knowledge.

This partnership between Huawei and UNESCO aims to ensure that no one is left behind by leveraging technology to build a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all. As Mr. Robert Parua, Education Programme Specialist at UNESCO Regional Office, Cairo, shares, "technology transforms education into a force for progress, inclusion, and opportunity."

Mr. Dou Yong, Vice President of Huawei Technologies Egypt, discusses the strong foundation for digital capacity building across Egypt through the Huawei ICT Academies. This new AI initiative is a significant step towards realising this vision, unlocking new learning opportunities for students and contributing to a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all.

The Huawei AI course, presented as part of the new AI initiative, is being offered to students via the Huawei Talent platform, aiming to equip learners from diverse backgrounds with essential skills in artificial intelligence, contributing to a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future. In line with this, Huawei and UNESCO are collaborating to develop technological solutions for education, leveraging AI to transform education into a powerful force for progress, inclusion, and opportunity.
