Huawei-affiliated company Stelato initiates pre-orders for the S9T wagon, priced at $45,660
Stelato S9T Station Wagon Officially Launches with Advanced Features and Luxury Touches
Stelato, the joint venture between Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has unveiled its second model, the S9T station wagon. The new vehicle offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, positioning itself as a premium option in the electric vehicle market.
The S9T is priced higher than the Nio ET5 Touring, with a pre-sales price of approximately $45,660–$45,700. The starting price of the Nio ET5 Touring is around $41,700–$45,000.
In terms of powertrain and range, the S9T's BEV version is equipped with a 100-kWh Huawei Giant Whale battery pack, offering a range of up to 801 km. The EREV version features Huawei's extended-range system, providing a battery range of up to 354 km and a total combined range over 1,300 km when fueled and charged. The Nio ET5 Touring is purely electric, but exact range comparison is less detailed in the results.
The S9T boasts a spacious interior and practical luggage capacity, measuring 5160 mm (length) × 2005 mm (width) × 1486–1492 mm (height), with a wheelbase of 3050 mm. The Nio ET5 Touring's dimensions are not provided, but as a sedan-based touring model, it is likely more compact.
The S9T's interior features high-end materials including Nappa leather seats, natural wood trim, suede roof, and multiple interior color options. Premium amenities such as a horizontal dashboard with a large touchscreen, passenger display, co-pilot zero-gravity seat, smart electric doors, B-pillar air vents, multiple electric sunshades, and advanced ambient lighting are also included.
The vehicle is equipped with four LiDAR sensors and distributed 4D millimeter-wave radars for enhanced driver assistance and safety (ADS 4.0 system). The S9T is one of the first to be equipped with Huawei's ADS 4, an intelligent driving system released in April this year, which has four levels depending on its capabilities.
The S9T adopts a “Cosmic Aesthetics” design philosophy with distinctive “Starlight Headlights” and “Nebula Taillight” strip, offering a sporty yet luxurious look. Wheel options include standard 20-inch wheels with an optional upgrade to 21-inch at extra cost.
The S9T will be officially launched in September, and customers who deposit RMB 2,000 for the S9T will receive a RMB 5,000 discount and priority delivery rights. The Nio ET5 Touring delivered 4,418 units in July, marking the second consecutive month it surpassed the ES6 SUV to become the highest-selling Nio model.
Stelato is one of five automotive brands under Huawei's HIMA umbrella, and the S9T competes with the Nio ET5 Touring. Luxeed, another brand under Huawei's HIMA, begins pre-sales of 2 updated models. The S9T's cabin features more than 10 screens and is equipped with Huawei's intelligent projection screen system 2.0.
Overall, the Stelato S9T offers a more luxurious, larger, and technologically advanced package compared to the Nio ET5 Touring, at a higher price point. It is aimed at buyers seeking a premium station wagon with advanced electric and extended-range options, sophisticated driver assistance systems, and upscale interior finishes. The Nio ET5 Touring, meanwhile, provides a competitive electric touring sedan experience at a slightly more affordable price.
