Hiring initiative: Engineering company Egis to add 100 positions in Dublin

Egis, a leading engineering consultancy, has announced the creation of 100 new jobs in Ireland over the next year. This expansion is in response to the Government and state agencies investing in major infrastructure projects and updating existing infrastructure, as outlined in the updated €275 billion National Development Plan.

The new roles will primarily be in engineering and will help Egis to strengthen its capacity to support the state's infrastructure investment. The company aims to deliver essential infrastructure that supports stable economic growth and a sustainable future through innovation in digital engineering, smart infrastructure, and sustainable construction techniques.

Egis is already involved in several major infrastructure projects in Ireland, including DART+, Metrolink, Bus Connects, the Greater Dublin Drainage Project, the Shannon to Dublin water pipeline, and the construction of the new Adare Bypass. It also operates and maintains key tunnels such as the Dublin Tunnel and the Jack Lynch Tunnel, and monitors 1,200 km of motorway.

By growing its staff and integrating its recent acquisition of JB Barry & Partners, Egis aims to enhance its engineering expertise and capacity to successfully compete for and contribute to the delivery of strategic projects under the National Development Plan. The company collaborates with a range of public sector clients such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the National Transport Authority, Iarnród Éireann, Uisce Éireann, local authorities, and the Office of Public Works (OPW) to deliver and operate major infrastructure projects.

Tánaiste Simon Harris welcomed Egis's plans to continue expanding and creating new jobs, noting that Egis has already successfully partnered with the Government and various state agencies on the delivery and operation of major infrastructure projects. The jobs announcement was made at Classon House in Dundrum, Dublin 14.

Egis currently operates across 16 offices and sites in Ireland, and its total Irish workforce now stands at over 630. Steve Preece, CEO of Egis in Ireland, stated that the company's ambition is to help enable the country's stable economic growth through the delivery of essential infrastructure and buildings. Egis has been operating in Ireland since 1994.

In addition to the private sector, both Eirgrid and the ESB are expected to invest in new infrastructure in the coming years. As Ireland continues to invest in its infrastructure, Egis is poised to play a significant role in ensuring the Government maximizes the return on its investment. The company's focus on climate resilience and low-carbon engineering methods aligns with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, making it an ideal partner for the country's infrastructure development.
