The automotive landscape is about to change with the arrival of the Maextro S800, a new luxury sedan launched by a domestic automaker in collaboration with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) and Huawei. This high-end, full-size electric vehicle is poised to challenge established brands like Mercedes-Maybach, Nio, and Huawei in the luxury car market.

Power and Performance

The Maextro S800 boasts a combined output of 852 horsepower, ensuring robust acceleration and high performance. With an electric range of up to 702 kilometers (on a single charge for the battery electric vehicle version with a 94 kWh battery), it offers impressive driving capabilities. Agile handling is achieved through active suspension and rear-wheel steering, allowing up to 12-16° wheel turning and a tight turning radius as low as 3.88 meters.

Technology and Safety

Technology plays a significant role in the Maextro S800. Huawei’s Xmotion body control system adapts suspension, steering, and torque dynamically based on road conditions, using lidar, radar, and sensors. Advanced collision preparation features include proactive tensioning seat belts, seating adjustment, window closing, and door unlocking.

The Maextro S800 also benefits from Huawei’s Shing vehicle connectivity platform, which provides smart network handover, predictive map preloading, and satellite connectivity, extending coverage 30 meters beyond the vehicle.

Interior and Comfort

The interior of the Maextro S800 is designed with luxury and comfort in mind. A triple-screen cockpit features a massive 40-inch cinematic display and a 76-inch AR-HUD (augmented reality head-up display) for immersive user interaction. The vehicle offers a 4-seat Executive layout with luxurious zero-gravity rear seats.

The cabin is adorned with premium natural materials and crystal controls, creating an upscale feel. Other comfort features include a panoramic glass roof with tinting control, rear-seat individual touchscreens, and ambient lighting that syncs with music.

Audio and Media

The Maextro S800's high-end 43-speaker Huawei Sound system surpasses competitors like Tesla in audio experience, creating a rich and immersive surround sound environment.

Additional Features

The Maextro S800 offers additional features such as an intelligent starlight headliner adding ambient lighting effects and voice-command and AI assistant integration for hands-free control over climate and navigation.

Availability and Pricing

The Maextro S800 is available in both BEV and EREV options. The four-seat BEV variant starts at RMB 818,000, while the five-seat BEV variant starts at RMB 708,000. The vehicle is also available in four EREV variants, with the two five-seat options starting at RMB 708,000 and RMB 788,000, and the two four-seat options starting at RMB 818,000 and RMB 1,018,000.

Richard Yu, the executive director and chairman of Huawei's consumer business group, announced over 10,000 firm orders for the Maextro S800 on Weibo. The Maextro S800 luxury sedan is the latest offering from the Huawei-JAC joint brand and was launched on May 30, 2023.
