Henkell Freixenet Acquires Bolney Wine Estate to Boost English Sparkling Wine's Global Image

Henkell Freixenet, the global giant in sparkling wine, has completed a deal to acquire Bolney Wine Estate on 14 January 2023. The acquisition, made through its British and Irish arm Freixenet Copestick, sees Clare Rudkin take the helm as the new managing director, with Sam Linter continuing in her role.

Bolney Wine Estate, founded in 1972, has been producing award-winning sparkling and still wines under the leadership of Sam Linter, daughter of the founders and current winemaker. Robin Copestick, MD of Freixenet Copestick, commended Bolney's sparkling wines and management under Linter's guidance.

The acquisition aims to bolster the image of English sparkling wine on the global stage, with Henkell Freixenet, the market leader, at the helm. Both parties intend to grow Bolney's national and international presence. As part of the deal, Bolney's wines will now be available through Freixenet Copestick's sales team, Jascots Wine Merchants, and Slurp eCommerce website.

The acquisition of Bolney Wine Estate by Henkell Freixenet is set to strengthen the reputation of English sparkling wine. With Clare Rudkin as the new managing director and Sam Linter continuing in her role, the estate's wines will now reach a wider audience, both nationally and internationally.
