Google's newest iteration of Search design resembles the Television Variance Authority (TVA) portals depicted in the hit series 'Loki'

In an exciting development, Google is testing a new design for the Circle to Search animation on Android. This redesigned animation bears a striking resemblance to the portal design from the Disney+ series, Loki.

The new animation is a two-stage effect. Initially, it appears as a solid container with a colourful glow inside the box. This stage lasts for approximately a second before the container expands into the familiar rounded container with corner handles, much like the ones used for cropping. The new animation's translucency and vibrant look are reminiscent of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) portals from Loki.

This new animation is more noticeable and eye-catching compared to the existing animation, which immediately expands out from where you tapped with a rounded container surrounded by a colourful, pulsating glow. The redesign seems aimed at focusing the user's attention on the search box more effectively and provides a visually richer experience.

However, it's important to note that this new Circle to Search animation is still in the testing phase and has not been widely rolled out yet. The new Circle to Search features, including the addition of AI Mode and gaming help on Android, are not yet available to all users.

Furthermore, the new Circle to Search text search now occupies the entire screen, and the company is also testing the rollout of Song Search history. As with any new feature, these changes may be subject to further adjustments before the full release.

Google has also made earlier updates to Circle to Search this year, including a transparent navigation bar and updated long-press behaviour. The company continues to test these new features, ensuring they provide the best user experience possible.

Stay tuned for more updates on the rollout of these new Circle to Search features, expected at a later date.
