Google removes Byju's Learning app from Playstore due to unpaid debts to a vendor.
The educational technology company, Byju's, has faced a significant setback as its flagship learning application, the Byju's Learning app, has been removed from the Google Play Store due to unpaid dues to Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides the essential cloud infrastructure and support that enable the app's operation. Despite this, other applications under the Byju's (Think and Learn) umbrella, such as the Premium Learning app and the Exam Prep app, continue to be available on the Play Store. The main learning app is still accessible on Apple's App Store.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has initiated insolvency proceedings against Byju’s following appeals from various investors, including Glas Trust, the lender-authorized agency. As a result, the company's business is now managed by an Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP), who is tasked with addressing all payment-related issues as part of the ongoing legal and financial restructuring process.
