Google Experiencing Outages: Reports of Downtime in Several American Cities
In a surprising turn of events, a significant outage affected various Google services on Tuesday, impacting users in cities such as New York, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and several states including Texas, Oregon, Virginia, Idaho, Colorado, and Alabama.
The outage left Gmail users unable to connect to the server, preventing them from receiving or sending emails or accessing their inboxes. This disruption also extended to Google Cloud users, who reported being unable to check their accounts.
The issue seemed to be prevalent on Google's search engine as well, with failed login attempts showing up as a "502" error for some users. According to Downdetector, more than 25,000 user-generated reports were made due to the outage.
Among the cities that were majorly impacted by the outage were New York, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as per DailyMail. On Downdetector, the majority of problems reported were related to login issues with Google services, with 87% of problems being related to login, 9% facing issues with the website, and the remaining 5% being unable to use the platform.
Google's Workspace Status Dashboard, however, did not mention facing any problems, despite widespread reports related to login issues. The exact causes of the current Google service outages are not fully clarified, but it is speculated to be due to a technical server problem at Google. The company is actively investigating and working on a fix.
The Google dashboard website regularly tracks all Google services, and as of 11:30 AM ET, issues have also been faced by residents of Texas, Oregon, Virginia, Idaho, Colorado, and Alabama. The issue "now seems to be resolving", according to Downdetector.
As the day progresses, we await further updates from Google regarding the resolution of this outage and the restoration of their services. Stay tuned for more updates.
