Mercedes-Benz and Apple Music Collaborate for an Immersive In-Car Audio Experience

Mercedes-Benz AG, a global leader in the automotive industry, has partnered with Apple Music to bring an unprecedented music experience to its vehicles. This collaboration, which is integrated through the MBUX infotainment system, is now available in select Mercedes-Maybach models, the EQS and EQS SUV, EQE, and S-Class.

Apple Music subscribers can access the entire catalog of 100 million songs, thousands of editorially curated playlists, and daily selections from the world's best music experts. For Mercedes-Benz drivers who are already subscribed to Apple Music, this integration offers immediate access to an ever-growing selection of songs and albums available in Spatial Audio.

Apple Music's Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is now available in Mercedes-Benz vehicles for the first time. This technology, which is initially integrated in the announced models, aims to expand Spatial Audio availability to additional Mercedes-Benz models over time, though exact rollout dates for further models have not been specified.

The native experience delivers studio-quality sound better than any concert hall, immersing passengers in a multidimensional soundscape. This is made possible by the Burmester high-end 4D sound system technology, which is already available in the limited edition Mercedes-Maybach by Virgil Abloh. This model, the first in the Mercedes-Benz lineup to offer this superior sound system, includes 31 speakers, six 3D speakers, four near-ear speakers, an 18.5-liter subwoofer, eight sound transducers, two amplifiers, and 1,750 watts of power.

Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that it offers an unparalleled music experience in the industry. Markus Schäfer, Mercedes-Benz Group AG's chief technology officer, echoed this sentiment, noting that the collaboration is a significant step forward in the automotive industry.

Mercedes-Benz AG, under the leadership of Chairman of the Board of Management Ola Källenius, aspires to be the leader in the fields of electric mobility and vehicle software. In 2021, the company sold around 1.9 million passenger cars and nearly 386,200 vans. The product portfolio of Mercedes-Benz AG includes the Mercedes-Benz brand, Mercedes AMG, Mercedes Maybach, Mercedes EQ, G Class, and products of the smart brand.

The selection spans across various genres, including hip-hop, country, Latin, pop, and classical. Apple Music offers curated Spatial Audio playlists like Driving in Spatial Audio and Hip-Hop in Spatial Audio to enhance the in-car listening experience.

In addition to Apple Music, the Mercedes me brand offers access to a variety of digital services from Mercedes-Benz, providing a seamless and connected driving experience. The Burmester high-end 4D sound system technology will be rolled out to other Mercedes-Benz models soon, further enhancing the in-car entertainment experience for Mercedes-Benz drivers worldwide.
