The Entity Tender Committee (ETC) in Ghana's Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation has been officially inaugurated, marking a significant step towards strengthening institutional governance and ensuring transparency in procurement activities within the Ministry.
The 10-member committee, responsible for overseeing all procurement activities and ensuring full compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), as amended, comprises a diverse group of members, including high-ranking officials from within the Ministry and representatives from external professional bodies.
The ETC's key objective is to protect public funds through effective oversight. Its mandates include reviewing and approving annual procurement plans, managing procurement processes strategically, and ensuring adherence to procurement laws and regulations.
The committee is chaired by Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), who will lead the team in upholding transparency, fairness, and accountability in every procurement process. The committee is also tasked with confirming the acceptable range of costs for procurement items and ensuring consistency with the Ministry's approved budget.
In addition to these responsibilities, the committee will facilitate contract administration, monitor compliance with all procurement reporting requirements, and assist the Head of the Entity in ensuring the proper disposal of stores, vehicles, and equipment in accordance with legal stipulations.
The inauguration ceremony for the Entity Tender Committee took place today at the Ministry's conference room. The committee's Secretary is Mrs. Nora Akonnor. The Ministry's formation of this committee underscores its ongoing dedication to strengthening institutional governance, adhering to best practices in procurement, and reinforcing public confidence in the management of public resources.
