Germany's Customs Unveils 'Emden' Patrol Vessel on Oct 7, 2025
The Main Customs Office Oldenburg is set to unveil its latest addition, the patrol vessel 'Emden', on October 7, 2025. The inauguration ceremony will offer a chance to explore the ship and hear from key figures in the German customs service.
The 'Emden' is a 55-meter single-hulled ship, powered by an alternative LNG drive. It will primarily patrol the North Sea, monitoring cross-border goods traffic and enforcing customs regulations. The ceremony will take place at Emden's Inner Harbor (former Cassens shipyard) at 3:00 PM.
The event will include photo and film opportunities, interviews, and a guided tour of the vessel. Björn Böhning, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, will deliver the inaugural speech.
The 'Emden' promises to be a significant addition to Germany's customs fleet, equipped with modern technology to tackle contemporary challenges. The inauguration day on October 7, 2025, will mark the start of its service, with Böhning's speech highlighting its importance.
