Germany Blocks Tesla Cybertruck Imports Over Safety Concerns
The German Federal Ministry of Transport has blocked the import of Tesla's Cybertruck into the country, citing major safety concerns and non-compliance with EU regulations. This decision extends to US military personnel, who are also prohibited from bringing the vehicle in.
The ministry's denial is based on the Cybertruck's lack of EU type-approval, which ensures vehicles meet safety standards designed to protect pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. The vehicle's sharp stainless steel bodywork has been identified as a particular concern.
The US Army Customs Agency has echoed these concerns, rejecting the Cybertruck due to significant passive safety issues. They also raised the potential for unwanted attention in traffic. Military personnel who attempt to import the Cybertruck risk having to ship it back to the USA at their own expense.
The Tesla Cybertruck's import into Germany remains prohibited due to safety concerns. Both the German Federal Ministry of Transport and the US Army Customs Agency have expressed significant worries about its compliance with safety regulations.
