Geely's Lynk & Co Set to Launch in Europe with Urban-Focused Volvo XC40
Geely, the Chinese automotive giant, is set to unveil its latest venture, Lynk & Co, on 20 October 2016. The first model from this new brand is expected to be a rebadged Volvo XC40, marking a significant step in Geely's expansion into the European stock market today.
The launch of Lynk & Co will take place simultaneously in Gothenburg and Berlin. Alain Visser, a Belgian manager with a rich automotive background, including roles at Opel, General Motors, and Volvo, will lead the project. Visser, who previously headed Volvo's Lynk & Co division, has since moved to Geely as Marketing VP.
Lynk & Co aims to establish a strong retail presence in Europe, planning to open 500 retail shops. These stores will sell the brand's 'connected' cars, which are expected to cater to urban drivers, as hinted by the urban lifestyle content on the Lynk & Co website. A teaser image and website have been released, building anticipation for the upcoming launch.
