Fujitsu Launches Updated Quaderno A5C Tablet, Version 3 of Gen 3
The Quaderno, an ultra-lightweight and thin electronic paper device, is making waves in the music industry with its unique features tailored for handwritten notes and PDFs, particularly music notation.
The 10.3-inch flexible E-ink display at the heart of the Quaderno offers several advantages over traditional rigid glass E-ink screens. Its flexibility enhances durability, making it less prone to cracking or shattering, ideal for active use such as frequent page turns in music scores. The display provides clear, sharp rendering of text and graphics, essential for reading detailed music notation, and reduces eye strain over prolonged use compared to backlit screens.
The Quaderno's display supports capacitive stylus input, enabling musicians to annotate scores directly on the device. This feature facilitates personalized note-taking, marking up sheet music with ease and precision. The device's size is portable yet large enough to display full music sheets without constant zooming or scrolling, striking a balance perfect for use in rehearsals, performances, and practice sessions.
The Quaderno's micro USB connector enables easy charging and data transfer, making the device convenient to use and integrate with other digital platforms or music libraries. The device can store up to 10,000 PDF files and is equipped with Bluetooth 5.1.
The Quaderno's pressure-sensitive function allows for realistic handwriting, changing stroke and thickness with applied pressure. The device comes with a rechargeable stylus pen equipped with a Wacom digitizer, offering 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The Quaderno also features a "Memorization mode" for memorization learning and a "Page turning function" for performance. The device supports Wi-Fi on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and has a black-and-white resolution of 1404 x 1872 and 227 PPI.
The Kaleido 3 model of the Quaderno can display 4096 colours and has 113 PPI, offering 8 colours in its standard model. With these features, the Quaderno is a compelling device for musicians seeking a digital sheet music solution with annotation and portability advantages. The flexible nature of the screen is especially beneficial compared to traditional glass E-ink readers, as it provides impact resistance and a lightweight design suitable for frequent handling in music environments.
