Frankfurt's Riederwald Tunnel Construction Begins in January
After years of debate, construction of the Riederwald Tunnel in Frankfurt is finally set to commence. The billion-euro project management, connecting motorways 66 and 661, will see drilling for the tunnel begin as early as January, Autobahn GmbH has confirmed.
The tunnel, spanning approximately 2.2 kilometers, will have half of its route running underground. Initial preparations and ground testing have already begun, marking the start of this significant infrastructure project management.
Residents have expressed concerns about potential noise pollution, air quality, environmental impact, and increased traffic during an information event. These issues will be addressed as construction progresses, with the aim of minimizing disruption to local communities.
The Riederwald Tunnel, once completed, is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the eastern part of the city. With drilling set to begin in the coming months, this long-awaited project management is now one step closer to reality.
