Ford to offer complimentary home electric chargers and installation for every electric vehicle purchase aiming to enhance sales figures.
Laid-Back Guide to Ford's Power Packed EV Offer
Ford is shaking up the electric vehicle (EV) world by offering a tempting freebie for new EV buyers in a bid to ramp up sales - say hello to the Power Promise! This initiative aims to make the switch to EVs an easy and stress-free experience, breaking down barriers for those who might be holding off conversion.
In response to a survey, Ford discovered that a quarter of respondents view EV ownership as complex, and the Power Promise is designed to bust this myth. In the UK, the scheme provides a home charger, installation, and up to 10,000 miles worth of energy for free - sweet!
This deal is available across the entire Ford EV range, which includes the new Puma Gen-E, Capri, Explorer SUV, and Mustang Mach-E, as well as the E-Tourneo Custom and E-Tourneo Courier. Alternatively, if you prefer some cold hard cash, you can swap the charger and installation for a £500 pound note.
What's more, Ford partners with Octopus Energy, allowing new EV owners to enjoy the benefits of the 'Intelligent Octopus Go' smart energy tariff, which offers off-peak charging for as low as 7p/kWh. This smart tariff helps you save up to 70% on energy costs by optimizing charging during periods of cheaper energy or when there's less demand on the grid[citation needed].
Furthermore, Ford offers an eight-year, 100,000-mile high voltage component and battery warranty cover, a free five-year service plan, and free five-year towing assistance, ensuring you're set for EV adventures[1][2][3]. Along with access to Ford's BlueOval Charge Network's impressive 33,000 UK public charging points, you can easily manage your charging via the FordPass app.
While Ford is taking care of home-charging solutions, those without a driveway will need to tap into the public charging network, but with the £500 cash offer as a starting point, you'll be off to a flying EV start[1][2][3]. It's worth noting that Ford initially announced an energy bonus, but this doesn't seem to be included in the current package.
Riding the green wave, EV charge infrastructure is steadily expanding in the UK. In the first quarter of the year, Zap-Map has reported a 29% growth in charging points, bringing the total number to 76,840 across the country[4]. Rapid charge points, with a power rating of 50kW - 149kW, have grown by 11.3%, with 7,736 now available in the UK. Some 49 new charging hubs have opened recently, including the UK's largest ultra-rapid charging hub in Winchester, equipped with a Starbucks, play area for children, dog walking site, and 24/7 facilities and CCTV[4].
