Fischer's Problem-Solving Strategies for Structural Reinforcement: Life for Old Structures Unexpectedly Extended
Enhancing Sustainability Through Structural Retrofitting: fischer India Introduces Carbon Fiber Solutions
fischer India, a leading provider in the construction industry, is addressing a critical market need: the preservation and retrofitting of existing buildings. The company's new line of products, incorporating carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP) and carbon fibre fabrics (CF), aims to reinforce infrastructure and buildings, extending their service life and contributing to sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mayank Kalra, Managing Director of fischer India, highlighted the importance of the company's innovative solutions in the context of growing sustainability demands and infrastructure optimization. According to Mr. Kalra, the new systems using CFRP and complementary fixing solutions have been specifically designed to cater to the demands of modern engineering.
Improving Structural Integrity and Conformity to Global Standards
fischer's new products for structural strengthening are particularly beneficial in situations where the load-bearing capacity of existing structures needs restoration or enhancement. Such instances may occur due to a variety of reasons, including the repurposing of buildings, necessary improvements, stricter building regulations, or underlying issues such as poor quality material or construction defects.
These advanced carbon-based technologies not only reinforce structural integrity but also meet the highest global standards, ensuring their suitability for diverse applications-ranging from urban redevelopment to infrastructure restoration. The new systems have received various approvals, including a European Technical Assessment (ETA-24/0281) for CFRP laminates bonded into grooves (Near-Surface Mounted) and onto surfaces (Externally Bonded), an ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-4774) for the CFRP laminate and the CF fabric, and a GB code certificate for the carbon fabric system.
Post-Installed Rebar Connections and Concrete Overlay Reinforcements
fischer's offerings also include solutions for post-installed rebar connections and concrete overlay reinforcements. The new fischer RebarConnect FIS RC II vinyl ester hybrid mortar facilitates rebar connections in diameters of 8 to 40 mm with an embedment depth of up to 2 m and a service life of 100 years. Additionally, the FRA rebar anchor can be used for this application. The versatile ETA approval covers temperatures ranging from -10 C to 40 C in the anchor substrate, making the products applicable in a wide range of conditions (as per ETA).
The fischer FIS EM Plus epoxy resin mortar and the FRA rebar anchor can also be utilized for rebar connections with a diameter of 8 to 40 mm. This mortar is regulated by ETA-22/0001 - Post-installed reinforcing bar (rebar) connections with improved bond-splitting behaviour, serving as the basis for planning post-installed rebar connections alongside existing procedures (EN 1992-1-1 and EN 1992-4).
The FIS V Plus vinyl ester hybrid mortar can further be used for post-installed rebar connections with a diameter of 8 to 28 mm and the fischer FRA rebar anchor. In addition, the concrete-concrete shear connector FCC, in combination with the fischer FIS EM Plus, FIS RC II, FIS V Plus, and FIS SB injection systems, provides an ideal approved system for repairing and reinforcing buildings, bridges, and other structures through concrete overlay.
Fischer India's Commitment to Sustainable Infrastructure Growth
Mr. Mayank Kalra reaffirmed fischer India's commitment to providing future-proof solutions for structural retrofitting, focusing on products that are technically advanced, cost-effective, and easy to implement. The comprehensive suite of offerings, from carbon-based reinforcement systems to post-installed rebar connections and concrete overlay reinforcements, reflects fischer's mission to support sustainable infrastructure growth while empowering construction professionals with reliable, performance-driven tools.
- The new carbon fiber products introduced by fischer India, such as CFRP and carbon fiber fabrics, not only reinforce infrastructure and buildings for sustainability, but also adhere to the highest global standards, making them suitable for diverse applications in urban redevelopment and infrastructure restoration.
- Embracing science and technology, fischer India's appropriate use of carbon-based technologies in structural strengthening not only improves structural integrity, but also caters to the demands of modern sports facilities, as evidenced by their receipt of various approvals such as the ICC-ES evaluation report and European Technical Assessment.
