Ferrovial to Build 250MW Texas Solar Plant, Creating 300 Jobs
Ferrovial Energy is set to construct a 250MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Austin, Texas. The project, expected to cost around $355m, aims to supply electricity to the Texas grid and boost long-term regional growth. It is slated to be operational by 2027.
The plant, which will complement Ferrovial's existing 257MW DC facility in Leon County, will be overseen by Ferrovial from construction to maintenance. CEO María José Esteruelas anticipates the project creating nearly 300 jobs during the building phase, supporting local services, and enhancing energy reliability.
Once completed, the facility is expected to generate approximately 450GWh of electricity annually, powering around 43,000 homes. Construction is set to begin in the coming months.
