Fanduel strengthens its public policy team with new executive hires

FanDuel Group, a leading online gaming company in North America, has bolstered its C-suite with the addition of Jonathan Nabavi and Shailagh Murray. Both executives bring decades of government policy expertise to the table, as the sports betting landscape undergoes significant changes.

Jonathan Nabavi has been appointed as the Vice President of Federal Affairs at FanDuel. Prior to joining FanDuel, Nabavi served as Vice President of Public Policy and Legislative Affairs at the National Football League (NFL). His extensive experience in sports-related policy and legislative affairs will be invaluable in addressing federal policy challenges for FanDuel.

Shailagh Murray, on the other hand, has taken on the role of Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at FanDuel. Before her tenure at Columbia University, Murray served as an Executive Vice President of Public Affairs. Her expertise will help FanDuel engage with key stakeholders to shape the online gaming industry responsibly.

Christian Genetski, President of FanDuel, expressed excitement about the latest key hires. He believes that Murray and Nabavi will lead FanDuel in policy discussions to build and shape the online gaming industry over the long term.

Nabavi holds a Juris Doctor from the George Washington School of Law, and Murray has a BA in humanities from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's in journalism from Northwestern University.

Murray also served as a Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama between 2015 and 2017. Nabavi represented the NFL before the White House and U.S. Congress, among other federal and local government bodies and agencies.

The appointments come at a time when FanDuel Group continues to lead in the development of regulated betting and gaming across the United States. This role in the burgeoning market helps states collect valuable tax revenue for expenses such as education, community programs, and infrastructure projects.

The strategic move to enhance FanDuel's influence in policy discussions is evident, especially as the sports betting landscape evolves. With Nabavi and Murray on board, FanDuel Group is well-positioned to navigate these changes and shape the future of online gaming.

The appointments of Jonathan Nabavi as Vice President of Federal Affairs and Shailagh Murray as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at FanDuel Group signify a strategic shift in the company's approach to policy discussions. Their personal backgrounds in sports-related policy, government, and technology will aid FanDuel in shaping the future of the online gaming industry, including online sports betting, and navigating the evolving gambling landscape.
